Visiting a spa for the first time can be stressful as you do not know how to behave and what to expect. Below is an outline of the preparations you need to do before attending a spa:
  • Whenever you need to get services from a spa during your holidays, book early to avoid the embarrassment of failing to get an appointment. Hotel spas tend to be fully booked during the holiday season and you have to request for a slot early.
  • If you have a preference for either a male or a female spa attendant, let the spa management know as you make the appointment. If you do not do this early enough, it may not be possible to do anything about it when you get to the spa.
  • Do not take a lot of food before attending a spa session or take plenty of coffee. You will be very uncomfortable lying on the massage bed on a full stomach.
  • If you intend to go through an exfoliation treatment, avoid shaving for a duration less than twenty-four hours before the appointment.
  • Make sure you arrive early enough so that you can get familiar with the spa’s surroundings. This will give you time to prepare before your session begins and you can even take a shower to help you relax.
  • The most difficult part for a person attending a massage session is when you are told to undress. You should know that this is a normal procedure and you will be given the privacy to undress and get under the sheets.
  • If you are uncomfortable with a particular process during the massage session, let the person attending to you know. Guide the therapist through the session so that you get the best out of it.
A spa session should not make you feel uncomfortable, though it is normal to be a little bit tense when the session begins. As you proceed, you may even discover that you fell asleep and you no longer feel any discomfort. You will feel much better after the session.
